ABOUT MILK PAINT (Chalk Paint)
 Environmentally Friendly
Milk Paint is environmentally safe and non-toxic. There is a slight milky odor when the paint is applied, that becomes completely odorless when dry. The paint is safe for children's furniture and toys, and is used for interiors of homes for people who are allergic to modern paints.
 Authentic Look for early furniture and interiors
The deep rich colors of Milk Paint authentically reflect those colors found on existing antique furniture and buildings. Milk Paint is made in small batches, using earth pigments. Modern paints cannot compare with the colors and the texture of the finish for achieving the "old aged" or "country look" of Colonial or Shaker furniture and early interiors.
Like milk paints used hundreds of years ago, the colors will not fade. Milk Paint will produce an antique uneven matte surface as first applied. Create a semi-gloss look by burnishing the painted surface.
When used with our Antique Crackle, Milk Paint will result in a textured surface with a "time worn" look to accent country interiors. Packaged in a dry powder form allows the user to control the thickness of the paint for use as either a wash-stain, full cover coat, or for stenciling. Many variations in color can be easily achieved.
Colors can be intermixed to yield various hues or tones. For example; 6 tablespoons of Pitch Black
added to one pint of Lexington Green makes a wonderful historic Deep Green as used on Windsor chairs.

painted with Milk Paint and some other water based finishes.
This natural gelatin product is brushed on before the final coat
of milk paint for an instant 'alligator' or crackled look.

Natural Earth Pigments and manufactured pigments are used to color, tint,
and tone milk paint, shellac, varnishes, lacquers, paint and liquid wax polishes,
cement and reconstituted stone or marble, to mix with modeling plaster, wood pastels or putties.
These fine ground pigments when mixed and blended into repair fluids such as Lac French,
Qualasosle, or Mohawk Two Minute touch-up make translucent to opaque colors for furniture finish touch-up
and repair of scratches or blemishes.
They are also used to patinate and age painted surfaces & new varnishes.
Natural earth pigments do not fade when exposed to light. Blend pigments to obtain
intermediate tones and colors. Earth Pigments are Not soluble in water or alcohol.
