{"id":1137,"date":"2012-01-01T22:26:17","date_gmt":"2012-01-02T06:26:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shellac.net\/news\/?p=1137"},"modified":"2016-09-03T06:58:30","modified_gmt":"2016-09-03T13:58:30","slug":"waxing-furniture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shellac.net\/news\/waxing-furniture\/","title":{"rendered":"Waxing Furniture"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 align=\"center\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><em>Waxing Furniture<\/em><\/strong><em> &amp;<\/em><em> Fine Wood Finishes<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><em>Apply Sparingly &#8211; a little wax goes a long way!<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>For all wax polishing, wait until all the solvent evaporates prior to buffing.<br \/>\nPaste Waxes differ in composition; some blends require longer times for the solvent,<br \/>\nthat makes for the ease\u00a0of wax application, to evaporate.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to <strong>apply all paste waxes sparingly<\/strong>, in a THIN EVEN coat.<br \/>\nThis will assure even drying and yield an even sheen result when buffing<br \/>\n(a thicker area of wax will dry slower, and those areas will not buff<br \/>\nto as high a sheen).<\/p>\n<p>If you buff too soon, the buffing is just pushing soft (uncured) wax around.<br \/>\nI usually wait <em>(to allow the solvent to evaporate)<\/em> on furniture makers waxes for an hour &amp; up to 4 hours before buffing.<br \/>\nUse a Soft 100% cotton cloth (free of any seams or stitching) for buffing.<br \/>\nOld worn out 100% cotton t-shirts, linens, diapers and well used and laundered terry cloth will work well.<br \/>\nThe softer the buffing cloth, the higher the resulting sheen.<\/p>\n<p>On older pieces of furniture, and other wood surfaces, it is important to clean the item first of any dirt, oils or accumulated grime.<br \/>\nResidual oils, grime and some aerosol care products left on the surface can prevent the wax from drying properly and can lead to a splotchy uneven result.<strong><em><br \/>\n<\/em>Maintain and protect the waxed surface with another thin coat of wax as needed.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> A good wax layer is the best protection from moisture, dirt and abrasion.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Avoid the use of all maintenance oils &amp; silicone containing aerosols.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>To:<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shellac.net\/waxes_care.html\">Paste Wax Polishes &amp; care<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Waxing Furniture &amp; Fine Wood Finishes Apply Sparingly &#8211; a little wax goes a long way!
