Waxy Shellac Descriptions Wax provides some flexibility & moisture resistance.
'Waxy' shellacs are a good choice when the finish will be only shellac. The toughness of Button Lac makes it the preferred shellac
for finishing floors & interior woodwork.
Seedlac is harvested from the sticklac by crushing and sieving to remove organic materials.
The sieved lac is washed to remove insect parts and other soluble material, leaving the product we know as seedlac.
"Seed" refers to the seed like pellet shape of this basic natural resin material from which all shellac is made.
(Strain the liquid shellac through a paint filter or cheesecloth, to remove organic debris (proof this is an organic natural product). The seedlac color is influenced by the sap consumed by the lac bug & the season of harvest.
Warm Neutral Light Caramel Yellow Brown, seedlac, excellent for older antique restorations and repairs. Shellac Seed is the basic raw material that comes straight from the sticklac. We supply 'Golden' standard, the finest grade kusmi seed.
Dark Seedlac (Bysakhi Seed)
Rich Warm Brown, seedlac is excellent for use on darker woods for antique restoration and repair. Strain all seedlacs to remove organic debris.
Thai Seedlac (aka: Siam Seed lac)has rich warm Red amber tones, excellent for use on rosewoods, mahogany, or redwood. Intermix with other shellacs to adjust color or impart warm tones.
BUTTON Shellacs Buttonlac is a unique shellac product preferred by restorers and those looking for a very protective shellac finish. It is superb for French polishing due to its hardness. Buttons are prepared by the hand made process of heating the seedlac in a cotton tube. The resin secretes through the pores of the cloth and the molten shellac is formed into buttons. The processing polymerizes the resin, resulting in a very tough abrasion & moisture resistant finishing material. --- Button Shellacs are preferred for finishing floors, interior woodwork and by many French Polishers. (Buttons retain some of the natural shellac wax) - Photo & Trivia

JETHWA BUTTON is an early crop button produced of
lac harvested from the Beri tree. - A deeper tone than Kusmi #1 (Caramel Amber) with a reddish tint & not as dark as Kusmi #2.Seasonal Outage
DARK JETHWA BUTTON
A blend of Jethwa seed & Bysakhi seed produces a button
Darker than Jethwa and close in color to the Bysakhi
button with a warm (Reddish) cast.
This is made from seedlac of Bysakhi origin (summer season from Palas and Ber trees, an April - June/July crop). Bysakhi, a hard resin, is warm brownish in color, a good choice for floors. - Photo
